Seeing Lives Transformed through Faith in Christ
When it’s cold, dark and miserable, light and warmth is something we long for; the light and warmth of a summer’s day or, in winter, the light and warmth of a welcome, and a place of safety and comfort. The world can seem a dark place, especially at this time of year when the success of the Christmas season is measured by how much of a good time you've had.
Through all the busyness, wrapping paper, shopping lists and cards; the decorations and bright lights point to the simple truth that God’s presence and love shine out in a very dark world. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” as the Bible puts it. That gift of light, love and life is for you today – now.
During Advent 2014 windows throughout Toton lit up day by day to reveal the first Christmas Story. The Advent Windows were designed and made by members of Toton Churches. Those visiting the windows were able to follow the well-known story by walking, scooting, cycling or driving from house to house.
God has proclaimed 'Look, your saviour is coming.'
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.
The angel said 'Mary, you will become pregnant and give birth to a son.
The angel said 'you will call him Jesus.'
Mary was engaged to Joseph (a carpenter from Nazareth).
Caesar issued a decree that a census should be taken. Everyone went to their own town to be registered.
Joseph and Mary travelled from Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem in Judea.
There was no room for them to stay in the inn.
This very day in David's town your saviour was born - Christ the Lord.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.
God's free gift is eternal life with Jesus
There were some shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
A great company of angels appeared, praising God.
Strangers from the East, men who studied the stars, observed a new star in the eastern sky.
Wise Men from the east came to Jerusalem asking "where is the new-born King?"
The star stopped over the place where the child was.
The wise men presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
This is good news for you which will bring great joy for all the people.
Glory to God in heaven and on earth peace to all.
Mary gave birth to her first son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger.
Jesus said 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'
When the shepherds had seen Jesus the spread the word and all who heard it were amazed.
Merry Christmas from Toton Churches.
